Fat Transfer in Boulder, CO

What is a Fat Transfer?

To perform a fat transfer procedure, first excess fat is removed from areas of the body including the buttock, stomach, or thighs. Then, the same fat is prepared before being redistributed to another area of the body. This is a versatile procedure and can be used to improve the aesthetic of many areas of the body, including:

How is a Fat Transfer Performed?

To perform the fat transfer procedure, Dr. Roesner will first remove the excess fat using a hollow tube and a vacuum device, similar to how liposuction is used to remove unwanted fat. After “harvesting” the fat, it is strategically injected into areas of the body to alter overall appearance.

By using natural fat, the risks of complications are decreased and there is no chance of an allergic reaction. Additionally, transferred fat provides a more natural appearance when compared to a solid implant.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

One possible drawback of a fat transfer is that is is difficult to predict exactly how much fat is needed to achieve the desired appearance. Dr. Roesner will be very careful to place the fat so that it will receive a healthy supply of blood and nutrients. In most cases, much of the fat that is injected survives while a small portion of the fat is reabsorbed by the body. In some cases, a follow-up procedure may be needed to achieve the final result.
